Camino De Santiago

September 25th, 2018

Together with Hania after I completed my internship we went walking for a week, completing a section from the Camino Del Norte route from Bilbao to Santander. We didn’t plan to walk this route since we were going to be walking the Camino Frances (The more popular route). The day after we arrived we decided to switch route and were very happy we did, the views of the sea and being on the coast was magnificent! It was so great to spend time together reflecting and praying as we walked.

I’d really recommend the Camino to anyone who wants some space to engage with their thoughts and with nature. Walking long distances each day forces you to become acquaintanced with the thoughts that fill your mind from day to day. For me and Hania it was a time to reflect on our relationship, the joys and challenges we face in it and to think more about our faith.

I was very impressed to see so many old people walking. Some of them were in their 80s and walking a lot faster than me and Hania, quite impressive for someone of that age to undertake a 800km walk! We went at a relatively slow pace and I hope we will continue the route from where we left off another year.
